Educate the Children Foundation
Selection Criteria
How we decide which children we can support.
What we look at
Our resources are limited, so each application is weighed against the points below. They are guidelines for fairness, not a scoring sheet.
- Financial need
- Priority goes to families for whom school costs are a serious hardship.
- Educational potential
- We look for a real commitment to learning, shown through past grades, teacher recommendations and signs of motivation.
- Long-term impact
- We favour children from underserved communities, and those whose schooling or vocational training can lead to work.
- Accredited schooling
- The school or programme must be recognised and accredited, so that funds are used well and standards are met.
- Focus on basic education
- Our emphasis is on essentials: tuition, supplies, uniforms and transport. Support for higher education is considered case by case.
- Diversity and inclusion
- We support children of every gender, ethnicity, religion and ability, and we do not discriminate.
- Available funds
- The number of children we can help depends on our funds. Urgency and special circumstances are taken into account.
- Community involvement
- Service, leadership and extracurricular activity that benefit others count in an applicant's favour.
Please note
Meeting every criterion does not guarantee support. Decisions depend on how many applications we receive and the funds we have at the time.
